“ Came here on a weekend for the lunch buffet because we couldn't decide what to make, and a buffet usually has something for everyone, haha. There was an assortment of curries and fried goodies. Some of that was super spicy. Enjoyed the tender tandoori chicken and of course the flavorful sauces. The meal came with all the naan we wanted, so of course we gorged on garlic naan (arguably the best option over plain). Definitely overdid it on the dessert--the rice pudding was just so refreshing on a hot day! Overall, the buffet spread was not as extensive as some of the places I've been, but it kept us full for the rest of the day so we had to skip dinner that day. ”

“ Out of all the fine Indian establishments across town, Royal Taj remains my top pick! (not joking) Their Vegetable Korma is the only main I ever order. I first tried it at their buffet and haven't looked back since. I've been coming here for almost 10 years and each visit has been great. Service is speedy and friendly too! “ There are quite a few Indian restaurants in the area, heard about this place through a coworker. Decided to give a try and sure enough, it was pretty good. Took the recommendation of ordering butter chicken, shahi paneer, garlic naan, and tikki masala. I decided to try their roti chicken as well. Garlic naan was better than other restaurant I have tried. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the shahi paneer and butter chicken stood out. I think all are good with the garlic naan but the shahi paneer stood out more. The chicken was okay but not the best. Service was mediocre. It looks like they do buffet as well so might give a try another day. Overall glad to found a place that's pretty consistent with their food. ”

“ I haven't been to this place in a long, long time. Come to find, they have a lunch buffet, one of the only Indian lunch buffets around. The people working there were super nice, and all the food was excellent, albeit pretty standard. The price was reasonable for adults as well as children. We will definitely be adding this restaurant high on our list of options. ”

“ Royal Taj has been a family favorite for years and has become my weekly date night spot with my husband because it's that delicious! The service is excellent and we are always greeted with a warm smile. And then there is the food...SO GOOD EVERY SINGLE TIME! Their butter chicken is bursting with flavor and is one of the best I have ever eaten. Ambiance is cozy and easily accommodates large groups. Decor and furniture is dated but what it lacks, is more than made up for in the food. The lunch buffet is a great deal and available 7 days a week. They also offer catering. All prices are very reasonable and you will not be disappointed! ”

“ Arguably one of the most popular Indian restaurants in Fresno, primarily known for its lunch buffet and offering a vast variety of dishes. The menu is very comprehensive with as many as 100 dishes prepared here including the following: vegetable curries, seafood entrees, mutton entrees, lamb entrees, chicken entrees, soups, tandoori and other appetizers, Thali dinners, breads, parathas, Indian desserts, and rice dishes. The lentil soup is made from yellow lentils and boiled vegetables which gives it added texture and a slight bitterness I was not particularly fond of. I cannot say I am overly impressed with the taste and quality of the few dishes I have tried, including what was served as part of their buffet. The tandoori chicken, on the other hand, is very good: a good balance of spices, and herbs with a nice lemon zest and the meat was plump and juicy. Although there are other Indian restaurants I think I prefer for certain dishes, I look forward to coming back to Royal Taj for its lunch buffet and to try the Thali dinners (round dinner trays served with vegetables) and a number of the fish and shrimp dishes. Service is very friendly, fast, and attentive. ”
